The Story Behind the Rock

Built by a Glacier.

The rock in our pit traveled here from north of Stuart Lake on the Cordilleran Ice Sheet during the Wisconsin Glaciation period. The glacier got stuck in these hills — which is why the pit is almost 65 feet deep.

That geological origin means our rock is harder, more durable, and completely clay-free. It meets BCMoT and City of Prince George specifications. We've been supplying contractors and homeowners across Northern BC since 2013 — over a decade of on-time delivery and consistent quality.

Good Questions

What People Ask Before They Order.

We accommodate short notice delivery. Turnaround from the pit ranges from 74 to 85 minutes to most Prince George locations. Call us to confirm availability before your schedule locks in.
It depends on the size and depth. A standard residential driveway typically needs 4–6 inches of base material. Call us with your measurements and we'll help you figure out the right load size and product.
Pit Run is unprocessed — a natural mix of round rock and sand. Great for road base, driveways, and fill. Most economical option. Clear Crush is mechanically crushed and screened — angular rock ideal for drainage and driveway topping where you need free-draining material.
Absolutely. We operate a 150-hectare open pit with production equipment on site and an 80-foot platform scale. We supply municipalities, infrastructure projects, and large commercial builds under short-notice and long-term supply arrangements.
Our aggregate originated from north of Stuart Lake and traveled here on the Cordilleran Ice Sheet. That origin means it's harder than standard Prince George aggregate, completely clay-free, and naturally free-draining. You can't get this from a hardware store.
Yes. Delivery is available on a per-load basis for residential customers throughout the Prince George area. Contact us for a quote on delivery to your address.
No — you don't need to be home. Just let us know where you want the load dropped and we'll place it there. A tarp or marker on the ground helps us hit the exact spot. Most residential deliveries happen while customers are at work.
We run a 32-ton side dump and a tandem dump truck. The side dump handles large residential and commercial loads and deposits material precisely. The tandem reaches tighter residential sites where larger trucks can't go. Call us and we'll send the right truck for your job.
A standard residential driveway (50ft x 12ft) needs roughly 6–8 cubic yards of gravel at 4 inches deep. For drainage or fill projects, tell us the dimensions when you call and we'll help you calculate the right volume. It's faster and more accurate than guessing — and we'd rather get it right the first time.
Call us to confirm minimums for your specific product and location. We work with both small residential loads and large commercial volumes — if you're not sure whether your project is big enough, just ask. We'll give you a straight answer.
Call us to discuss payment options. We accommodate residential and commercial customers. For larger commercial orders and ongoing supply arrangements, we can discuss account terms. Payment is straightforward — no surprises.
It depends on the access. Our tandem truck can reach tighter sites that a full side dump can't. If you have a gate, a narrow driveway, or overhead obstacles, let us know when you call. We'll tell you honestly what's possible and send the right truck for the job.
Most aggregate suppliers in Prince George are reselling material from multiple sources. Patterson IS the source. Our rock came from north of Stuart Lake on the Cordilleran Ice Sheet — which means it's harder, completely clay-free, and naturally free-draining. Clay causes frost heave. Our rock doesn't have it. You can't get this quality from a middleman.
We accommodate short notice whenever we can. Call us in the morning and we'll do our best to get you loaded and delivered the same day. We've been keeping Northern BC contractors and homeowners moving since 2013 — short notice is part of the job.
We've been supplying Prince George and Northern BC since 2013 — over a decade of consistent, reliable aggregate delivery. In that time we've supplied municipalities, contractors, infrastructure projects, and thousands of residential customers across the region.
BCMoT stands for BC Ministry of Transportation. Their specification defines the exact quality, gradation, and performance standards required for aggregate used in government and infrastructure projects — roads, highways, bridges, and municipal work. If your project requires BCMoT spec material, our Clear Crush, 1" Minus, and Drain Rock products meet that standard. Bring your spec sheet and we'll confirm which products apply.

How a Glacier Built the Best Gravel Pit in Northern BC
